List Building, My Experiments       18 Comments »     02/13/2011

It’s been a while since I’ve published to the blog, or been in touch with my subscribers in fact. I’ll reveal why at the end of this blog post, so make sure you read this entire post because I have something very important to share.

But first, I want to share with you a unique tactic that you rarely see discussed that has generated  7,371 new unique visitors over the past four and a bit years.

Now I know those aren’t crazy numbers, but it took only five minutes to do, it’s completely free and I haven’t touched it since.

It consistently brings me 3-4 unique visitors per day and therefore 1-2 new subscribers. That’s around 500 subscribers per year and 2,500 in total.

Would you swap five minutes for 2,500 subscribers?

Here’s how I did it…

This method simply involves submitting a free eBook to free eBook directories, in this case e-library.net

You can see a screenshot of my submission below and how many visits it’s generated to my squeeze page – 7,371!

submit free ebooks list building experiment

And that’s from ONE ebook directory.

If you go to Google and type in “free ebook directory” there are hundreds more results.

Why not spend an hour or so submitting your free eBooks. Or pay someone to do it for you.

Some require you to use a direct link (i.e. no squeeze page). If so, put a direct link to a download page but have an opt-in form below. Instruct your visitors that they can receive a bonus report if they enter their name and email address.

Whether or not the subscribers you get from this method of list building are subscribers that buy things or are just freebie seekers I don’t know – but getting 2,500 subscribers for free and for five minutes work is not something to be sniffed at!

Give it a go and then let me know how you do – but don’t expect an instant traffic surge.

This is more of a long term strategy.

———————————

I said at the start of this blog post that I’d explain why I haven’t been in touch for a while and the reason is simple. Actually there are two reasons.

Firstly, it was my 21st Birthday on the 9th. I celebrated the day at university but then went home on the weekend to celebrate with family. That’s taken up most of this week.

But, before that I was working tirelessly on something very important.

I’ve created a brand new product called 100 Subscribers Per Day.

Using real life case studies, experiments and examples with verifiable proof from MY OWN niche business, I’ll SHOW you how you can add 100 brand new, targeted, responsive subscribers to your niche email lists EVERY SINGLE DAY.

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, my best training ever.

I reveal the ten strategies I use in every single one of my niche markets that enables me to reach 100 new subscribers every single day. And by the way, the free eBook strategy I’ve shared in this blog post ISN’T in the training because it’s not powerful enough! That’s how powerful the methods are!

My initial intention was to sell this training for $197 and so I packed in a massive amount of value so that I could justify the $197 price point. In fact, I revealed every single list building tip, trick, secret and strategy that I know AND I created a 5 day action plan so that you can get going FAST.

But I’ve decided to do something crazy. I’m NOT going to sell this for $197.

I’m not going to even sell it for $97. Or $67. And not even $47. Not just yet, anyway.

Instead, for a limited time only, I’m going to allow you access for the nominal fee of just $9.95 – and that’s a one time investment by the way.

I really believe that if you download this training, read it, absorb it and IMPLEMENT it, then you will soon be on course for quitting your job and living the dream internet lifestyle – whatever that means for you.

100 Subscribers Per Day will launch at some point this week – hopefully by Wednesday. I just need to apply a few final tweaks but I will notify you as soon as it’s ready for sale.

I’m not having one of those big hyped up launches for this, I’ll just let you know when it’s ready, and if you think it’s for you then you can grab a copy. If it’s not for you, then that’s cool, too.

So make sure you keep an eye out on your email this coming week because I can’t wait to share this training with you.

I hope you enjoyed the quick tip today. Give it a go and keep an eye out for my email this week.

Thanks for reading,
James Penn

for a couple month now and it’s working great.

Thanks for the birthday message, Cedric.

4-5 subs per week for a one time investment of 10 minutes is fantastic.

Have you had success with e-library.net?

What other sites do you submit to?

      James

      Hi Jools

      Thanks for the birthday wishes.

And don’t worry, I celebrated my birthday on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday so I had more than one party.

That’s probably it for now though.

      Thanks for your comment,

      James

Hi James! I sent you a couple of sales a few weeks ago courtesy of some warrior banners. ;)

Bak to the topic…Glad to see an email from you! I do the same thing every so often. Except I use Big Mikes tool to semi-automate the process a bit.

I’m also looking into viral ebooks as well. I saw some interesting videos by James Grandstaff.

    • admin says:

Thanks Jesus for the sales! How did your banners perform? Warrior Forum marketing is something I’m looking into more intently this year.

Big Mike produces some great tools but I hadn’t heard of this one. I’m definitely going to take a look.

      Thanks for the recommendation.

How many pages should the e-book have? Sounds like a great strategy.

    • admin says:

      Hi Chuck

Product length doesn’t matter – although I’d rarely go below 5-6 pages and only if the content is fantastic.

  5. Ron says:

Happy Birthday. I really like your idea. Will try it to see how well it works for me. Thanks

    Hi James,

Good blog post. I also use this e-book tactic for a while, and it works great. The only downside is that in order to submit an e-book to Free-ebooks.net, which is the best e-book directory and gives the most traffic, you need to create at least 35 pages, and if you want to post it on an appropriate category, it should be 50 pages long. However, it is worth it.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

  7. Hi James,

Hope you’re taking the responsibility of being 21 well…

Key to the door and all that…lol

Cool share from you as usual, and even I can’t wait to see the new product :)
(Mainly because I’m used to you sharing real info that works – and not some 18 clicks to millions strategy that is hyped up rubbish…lol)

Great stuff, 35 pages sounds a lot but will try this myself thanks.

Are the directories tight on the font size?
